Contemplate Mayan architecture at Izamal Ruins. The archaeological site consists of five pre-Columbian structures, including two pyramids, two great temples, and a large building. Climb up the great pyramid, Kinich Kak Moo. Its base covers just under 1 ha (2 ac) and is dedicated to the Maya sun god. A climb to the top rewards you with panoramic views of pristine surroundings. Only the first third of the stairs have remained preserved, so bring tough shoes to traverse up the uneven rock to the top. This small colonial town, stands out from the beginning for the yellow color that the houses that are located at the entrance to it and in its central part. This place has been officially considered by the Government of Mexico as "Magic Village". It's magical because of the charming mix of constructions it has. In its central part is a convent made of stone, which was erected on the ruins of the ancient pre-Hispanic building known as Pap-Hol-Chac. This monastery also has a very nice altarpiece that makes it stand out even more. A few streets from the Convent is the archaeological area of Kinich Karmó, built around the 400s and 600bc. This pyramid or archaeological ruin measures approximately 34 meters in height. You can get on it, but it is recommended to do so if you are in good physical condition, because the effort it requires to get up and down from it is high. In the small town you can buy handicrafts from the region, and get rid of its delicious artisan ice creams, coconut water with its pulp and typical food things of the region. One outstanding thing is the sale of bristle-free brushes whose material stimulates hair growth!! We buy one just in case!! Worth visiting the place!View original
