Expiatory Temple, Guadalajara

Look up and admire Expiatory Temple, an imposing but attractive place of worship. Construction began in 1897, under the command of Archbishop Pedro Loza y Pardave, and was completed 75 years later, after building was repeatedly interrupted by contemporary events, such as the Mexican Revolution and the Cristero War. The church displays an impressive neo-gothic architectural style, primarily featuring stone carved in a way reminiscent of the Middle Ages. The interior displays three separate Italian mosaics, created in the Vatican, while the high roofs and stained glass works create a sense of awe with their artistry and scale.
