Cenote Ik kil, Chichen Itza

4.3
#1 of 64 in Parks in Yucatan
Swim in sacred Mayan waters at Cenote Ik kil, a naturally formed water basin, 60 m (200 ft) in diameter and located 26 m (85 ft) below ground level. Twinkling, clear waters fill the pool, decorated by hanging vines cascading from the treetops above. Step down the ornately carved limestone stairway to reach the swimming platform, where refreshing 35 m (114.8 ft) deep waters await. Keep your eyes out for the shoal of black catfish that call the cenote their home--don’t worry, they don’t bite. When you’re feeling rejuvenated, enjoy a bite to eat at one of the surrounding restaurants. Arrange to visit Cenote Ik kil and other attractions in Chichen Itza using our Chichen Itza trip planner .

  • We were at the Ik Kil cenote after we walked around Chichen Itzá. The place is very beautiful, yields many ball show photos. The size of cenote is very good and fit many people, the water is very crystal clear (for a change) and has a higher point for those who like to jump more from above. It has safety ropes for bathers to hold and if you prefer, you have life jacket rentals and also lockers to store your belongings (both equivalent to 7 reais when I went). It is necessary to take a shower before entering the cenote. Recommend..

  • Equally delicious swum here. Fantastic beautiful place that you should definitely visit. Restaurant I personally find less. Food is not very hot and as in many places in Mexico you are put on a large table with many strange people that you do not know. Sometimes that's pretty fun but not always. At all if you are not so of the children and 2 strange children are put in front of you. Furthermore, they could make a little more of this area.

  • Great place for those who want to go swimming in cenotes. They have a raised place from where people can dive in. Organized and awesome experience. Restrooms need a lot of work. Modern but mostly dysfunctional. At least the men's restrooms are Didn't try the buffet but it was 180$. Should be worth the money for those willing to try it. We went to the snack bar. Sandwiches were huge but bland. But then that's how club sandwiches are. The chicken tacos were disappointingly bland. Had to eat eat bite with jalapenos. Mojito wasn't any good either. Barely any alcohol, if it had any, and was just like drinking a virgin drink. The service from the staff was good.
  • One of my favorite cenotes!! Great location, restaurant for after good food, and great price! Entrance only couple dollars.
