Discover a piece of Mexican history by visiting Puerta de Tierra of Campeche City, the only walled city in Mexico. Built to protect the city from buccaneers and pirates in the 17th century, it originally featured 2,560 m (8,400 ft) of fortifications--of which only 500 m (1,640 ft) remain. Walk along the top of the wall, gaining access to views of the city from above. Along the way, you'll see eight bastions and two forts, including multiple museums providing insight into the history of the city. With our custom trip planner, Campeche attractions like Puerta de Tierra can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.
