Central Market, Port Louis
Indulge your eyes and stomach at Central Market, a bazaar-style indoor market. Explore the narrow, bustling streets and bargain with the sellers for a range of goods, including souvenirs, trinkets, and clothing. Browse the stalls selling local spices, fruits, and vegetables, attractively displayed in colorful arrangements. The boats can be reached in front of or behind the ship. Price two euros to the waterfront. Without specifying 20-30 people go to the barge. adventurous. We were there on May Day, Blue Penny Museum closed, Botanical Garden too far (€40 for a taxi we didn't want to spend), so Independence Street high (very nice avenue), detour to the Jardin de la Companie (great trees) and then to the Central Market (there was Labor Day is not announced). Colorful hustle and bustle in sultry hot weather. We bought a small dodo (heraldic animal and extinct large bird) (for about 3 euros). In the meat halls (Beef and Lamb are separated) we did not go in, we were already satisfied with the (covered) sewer. It stank. The water taxi back was the posse. The boatman was so busy counting money that he forgot to get rid of when dropping off. The disembarked at the ship was particularly funny. I've never seen so many (old) people crawl onto the landing jetty. There was no helpful hand there. So be careful when boarding and disembarking.

I’m starting to love this place more and more. Many claim it has a soul, some that it is the heart of the capital. If you start looking at it from a different perspective you soon realise the value of such an amazing and vibrant core area of one of the best cities in the world.
A place of sights and sounds that would impact all your senses. The colours of all the vegetables and fruits you find here an incredible. The fact that everything is so fresh also makes it a great place to shop for all your fruits and vegetable needs. It’s actually really beautiful place to click some pictures of a market setting. A good place to pick up magnets and other souvenirs from and can bargain quite a bit. Come in with a motive to bargain down and you can land some pretty great prices in comparison the larger stores on the waterfront don’t usually allow to much bargaining. The time inside here won’t take you more than an hour as the stalls are quiet repetitive in terms of both souvenirs as well as the fruits and veggies.
