Tamarin Falls, Curepipe

A series of seven waterfalls, each pouring into the next fall below, Tamarin Falls reward a challenging trek with abundant natural beauty. It's best to hire a guide to lead you to the falls; the hike can be quite difficult, with near vertical climbs, and a guide will know the best and safest way to get you there. Likewise, he or she can tell you about what you're seeing and the landscape you're exploring. The trek to the falls leads through forest and lush vegetation, around ponds, and across wide-open expanses. The diversity of this area and the exotic plant and animal life make the trip particularly special. Adventurers can walk right alongside the falls, and even jump from the top of a small fall into the pool below. Make sure to wear proper shoes for hiking. • Sporty downhill and uphill but a real treat. Avoid days after heavy rains because the terrain can quickly become difficult. Very little or no balling, a good GPS with the track loaded in GPX very useful! Mauritius has some nice surprises in store! Making the first 3 pools may suffice, but frankly no regrets to have made the loop on the 7 basins!

  • On September 29th we were at Tamarin Falls. Reading a little on the internet I had found reviews on several local guides. In the end I got convinced by the reviews about Jay Tanno and I couldn't be more pleased. It was a wonderful day. Jay is a nice and kind Mauritian Tamarin and knows every street and every secret of this place. We walked the walk from the bottom up with a Spanish couple (in 4 people we could fully enjoy the day). Jay was very nice explaining each plant and showing us the waterfalls from the most beautiful corner to photograph. He gave us time to swim in the waterfalls and all the way he took wonderful photos. Also the packed lunch was included in the price and brought us a bunch of absurd food that had kindly cooked his wife for us (all great). Driving in such a place is necessary, both to understand and observe every wonderful detail and because the walk is not signposted and you would risk getting lost. So I advise you to call Jay who will leave you with unique memories of these waterfalls. I'll leave you his number so you can contact him on Whatsapp: 230 5764 1372

  • We selected full day hiking with a guide Prakash from Green Island and we suggest him. Visiting all the waterfalls without guide is very dangerous, no real trails, stones are slippery but the environment is breathtaking👍🌳⛰️🏞️ Enjoy the sound of nature! Be well prepared (water, hiking shoes, mosquito spray) as the full day is rather hard level than medium and do not forget the stretching😂
  • Very nice place to hike but it is better to go with a guide. Be careful as it gets very slippery on rainy days. I would rate the difficulty as high. Be well prepared, Wear hiking shoes and bring a lot of water if you will do all 7 waterfalls
