Trip Planner: Caribbean / Martinique / Arrondissement of Fort-de-France / Fort-de-France / La Savane
A common meeting place among locals, La Savane, once known as the Garden of the King, dates back to the 19th Century. The 12.5 acre (5.05 ha) park offers shade, tall trees, park benches, and walkways. Head to the center of the park to find the decapitated statue of Josephine de Beauharnais, Napoleon's first wife and Empress of France. She convinced her husband to reinstate slavery in the area following the revolution that abolished it. In her left hand she holds a locket featuring a portrait of Napoleon. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Fort-de-France holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the La Savane and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

This is an awesome place to stroll and pass an hour or two relaxing and viewing the locals as they go about their weekend. Lots of unique shopping and small cafes adjoining the Savane. more »
Just the best location. We took an international ferry to Dominica and simply could walk to our ferry. We also took local ferries to the local beaches such as Anse à l'ane. Everything was easy access. Room were clean, staff was friendly.
Great hotel at the best location in the heart of Fort de France, close to all attractions, comfortable rooms and friendly and service minded staff.
