Cathedral of the Assumption, Majuro

Church · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
The center of the Catholic community of the Marshall Islands, Cathedral of the Assumption stands for peace and heartfelt worship. The building dates back to 1898, when missionaries belonging to the Order of the Sacred Heart came to the islands to spread the word of God. Although the church has a simple-yet-striking structure, the inlaid tile floor attracts visitors from all around the world; intricate circular and rectangular shapes in bright colors decorate the floor under the dome, combining beauty with grace. Time your visit so you can attend a lively mass, which is often accompanied by guitar players. To visit Cathedral of the Assumption and other attractions in Majuro, use our Majuro trip app.
