  • As I visited here 7 years before, this time I just bring my friend to here to have some photos and stay only 1 hours. Both of us have no time to hike inside to the beach. I find here more family come....  more »

  • Great park with free access. 15.02 - canopy walk doesn’t work. Beautiful jungles, sound-area is mind blowing, a bunch of birds and insects (which you don’t actually see)) make an orchestra. Before main entrance you could meet some food-sellers telling you to buy permission to get in - don’t listen to them, because it’s not true) the one thing - before entering the park you need to register at the information desk. That’s only for your safety. They will also give you a map, so you definitely won’t be lost, although there’s a bunch of readable and big signs in the park. Unfortunately, because of some nature-caused circumstances (like fallen tree or so) the path to the monkey beach (also the canopy walk) was closed, so we walked about 1,5 to the Turtle beach, which was also really good. When you get to the beach, you can arrange a transfer back to the info desk on a boat for about 80 ringgit for 2 persons - it’s pretty expensive, but really fun though, the views from the water are spectacular. They make a stop on a monkey beach also, so you can spend a couple of hours there, or take a walk to a lighthouse up in the jungle. Be prepared to spend at least 3 hours there, take some water and snacks with you, but please, don’t litter :)
  • Penang national park is gorgeous and a precious portal for experiencing Malaysia's nature. I went with 2 friends on Tuesday 29, wanting to hike to monkey beach, onwards to the lighthouse, and then back to the national park office via the canopy walk. However, on arrival in the morning, office staff told us that the trail to monkey beach was closed due to landslide damage. I was a bit disappointed but we decided to do the other hike, to the turtle sanctuary. It's a short hike, about 90 minutes one way. The trail is well marked and leads you to a beautiful and inviting beach, which is also has a number of signs asking you not to swim because of the jelly fish. The turtle sanctuary has some interesting information but the turtles look a bit sad and cramped in their conditions. On hiking back to the national park office, we plenty of time to take a boat to monkey beach, and from there hike to the lighthouse. It was an excellent day in the park and precious to see the nature, including monkeys, big lizards, and lots of butterflies
