The Mitsinjo Reserve, Andasibe

#4 of 13 in Wildlife in Toamasina Province
Climb trees to experience a rainforest from the top, or take a guided night hike to track mouse lemurs at The Mitsinjo Reserve, a forest station for research and animal viewing. Founded in 1999, the reserve has 7 sq km (2.7 sq mi) of rainforest, where over 12 km (7.5 mi) of trails lead you to rare wildlife like indris, diademed sifakas, and tree frogs. Operating in a number of climbing spots, research expeditions welcome visitors to join them in the canopy. Sleep overnight in a hammock, or visit a tree nursery and choose your own seedling.
