European Museum Schengen, Schengen

#1 of 8 in Museums in Grevenmacher District
European Museum Schengen commemorates the historic signing of the 1985 European Union Treaty. Besides seeing displays with maps and a brief history of the EU, you'll also be able to browse important EU documents. The small museum acts as a centralized tourist office for the countries that are part of the Schengen zone and offers information on the five communes that are included in the Schengen agreement. Next to the Schengen Castle, the attraction is built on top of the castle's former pool. Consider combining a tour of both the castle and the museum. International tour groups meet at the attraction for guided tours of the area that are organized in advance. Contact the museum in advance about joining one of these tours. • Seen with my little girl on 05 may 2019, free Museum with many documents on the Schengen agreements, including the signature, many photos. Located on the banks of the Moselle on the borders of Germany of France and Luxembourg. A quality restaurant located next to the Museum. I read the comment of MR or Mrs LOUAUXE, I do not understand it they had to visit it long ago, or they never set foot!!!!, this place is perfectly maintained and functional.

  • When visiting Saarland, it is important to visit the historically important village of Schengen-especially because of the European Museum. Here you get-depending on the time invested-a compact to detailed insight into recent European history. And one understands what it took for us to be able to live so easily today in a Europe without internal borders. We were fortunate that-after a corresponding pre-booking-all the important facts were presented to us very vividly by our guide René Till.

  • Very interesting and easy accessible museum in the village of Schengen. It concerns only information about the agreement of the north European countries to stop controlling their borders. The village of Schengen very attractive with plenty of nature sites. Three stars because the museum provides incorrect and unrecognized information about the neighbors of Greece.
  • Such a small town having received such a big slice of history! And just look at the star shaped plaques: Each one holds hallmarks of the country it is dedicated to, a marvellous piece of art! The museum itself has a restaurant where you can get served in 4 languages, magnificent!
