Known locally as Three Acorns, Museum Drai Eechelen represents a fortress in the city's Dräi Eechelen park. The local name comes from the three acorns that decorate the top of the three towers. The original fortress was destroyed in 1867, and the fully restored structure opened in 2012. The fortress houses a history and art museum in a modern, glass complex. Weaponry, armor, and artwork are displayed in the museum galleries alongside the history of the fortress itself. You can inspect important documents about the early history of Luxembourg, such as maps, books, and documented agreements that are displayed in French and German. Guided tours of the old fortress tunnels are given on certain days. The city tourist office provides walking maps that lead you to the fortress' entrance and through the adjoining park. Visited this museum as it is very close to the museum for contemporary art next door. Inside there is a short section of the tunnel of the fortifications that one can walk through. Other than that... more »

This museum was smaller than I was expecting, and expensive at €14 per person. There was a lot of information and the views are good. more »
