Since the 11th century, one castle or another has held court where Larochette Castle now sits. A steep walk up to the castle entrance rewards you with views over the small town and the surrounding countryside. If you have a rental car, you'll find free parking at the top of the hill. Ruined castle walls weave around the hills, many marking hidden passages and tunnels that are begging to be explored. The restored section of the castle sometimes hosts art exhibits, but its old stone halls can also be toured between art shows. A cafe with a bakery on the attraction's grounds will help refresh you after your castle tour. Using our custom trip planner, Larochette attractions like Larochette Castle can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

You can reach it with different public transport lines and climb on foot by a staircase that starts from one of the main streets. It is indicated with an arrow the climb and it takes about 15 min. The views are magnificent and has a quiet terrace and bar where you can have a drink. As for the castle, we miss some explanatory sign, brochure or audio guide. It only has a few drawings in some rooms that give you an idea of what was being done there.
Heel leuk om te bezoeken, groter dan ik van tevoren dacht. Mijn zoon van 14 vond het erg interessant. Trek goeie schoenen aan. more »Very nice to visit, bigger than I thought in advance. My son of 14 found it very interesting. Attract good shoes.
Larochette Castle is easily accessible for those staying in central Luxembourg. With a "Luxembourg Card", all transport is free, including certain castles and museums! This castle was included, so the whole day proved to be very cheap. For anyone travelling Luxembourg, there are a handful of castles that are considered a "must do". Although this one may not be the most popular, it was certainly my favourite. The ruins haven't been as restored as some of the castles, so it felt much more authentic. Larochette was much quieter too, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves.
This is a really interesting place. It's a shame they don't show a bit more before the gate, and we were unsure to go in, but it was very good indeed. Very worth it.
