  • Once, before the construction of the castle, this place was located on the estate of Panyamun nobleman Stanislav Stankevich-Bilevich. In 1597 he sold the land and construction of this estate to the landowner Janusz Eperjes, who built the castle in 1610. The flag-bearer of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Antanas Gelgaudas. The new owners carried out reconstruction, the windows opened in the walls. In 1867, the castle and estate was taken over by the heir to the property Gelgudov landowner Stanislav Puslovsky. The castle belonged to many owners, under which it began to collapse, was partially turned into a barn and thanks to its underground prison gained a bad reputation. In 1935 the castle was transferred to the Archaeological Commission of the Ministry of Education. In 1939, 1959-1962, 1984 and 1995-1997 the castle was preserved and restored. In 1961 it was included in the list of Lithuanian architectural monuments. At the moment there is a museum, a hotel and a restaurant.
