Visit the museum and its multitude of displays spread out over 15 different rooms; admire the variety of the collection's 28,000 pieces, about 5,000 of which are on show at any given time. Learn about the formation of amber in the region and its usage in human artwork and crafts from ancient times to the present day, where it remains one of Lithuania's most well-known and popular exports. • Small and cute local museum. 2nd floor is reserved for the amber. Voice guide in several languages. Clearly the guide writer is an art critic - she/he omitted a huge layer of literature, folk stories, legends and modern cultural references (especially the Jurassic Park movie). So, if you travel with kids, make your homework. Expect for ~2 hr visit. Staff is nice and helpful.
  • One of the must-to-visit places in Palanga, it offers really beautiful range of flowers, statues and of course, a museum that once used to be owned by a count Tiškevičius. Really interesting stuff, and if you get all sweaty during the heat, never worry, because the Baltic sea is just a few steps away from there and the water will surely cool you down!
