Looking out over the bay of Jounieh toward Beirut, Our Lady of Lebanon attracts Christian and Muslim pilgrims from around the world. Standing atop a majestic spiral staircase/stone base, the 8 m (26.2 ft) bronze statue of the Virgin Mary encloses a monumental 100 seat-shrine located underneath. Ride the cable car to the top of the hill, located 650 m (2132.5 ft) above sea level, then climb the sloping 19th-century stairway to the base of the statue, where a panoramic view of the city rewards your efforts. Our Lady of Lebanon Reviews
The trip up is great, a 530 m ascent on the Teleferique. You can feel the peace when you arrive and the atmosphere with its peaceful music is just so relaxing. People talk softly and it is just so wel... more »
Добраться сюда с побережья - целое дело. Двойной подъёмник, сначала кабинка, потом фуникулёр. От видов захватывает дух. Самое удачное время, на мой взгляд, перед закатом. По свету подняться, понаблюда... more »Getting here from the coast is a whole deal. Double lift, first cabin, then cable car. The views are breathtaking. The best time, in my opinion, before the sunset. To rise in the world, to watch as the sun sinks into the sea, to admire the evening views. As for Our Lady. To the statue you can climb the spiral staircase. Inside the chapel pedestal. Nearby is a place for candlelight. From the large terraces view on the coast. From the statue the expanses open incredible. It is necessary to accurately calculate the time to catch the descent. Otherwise you'll need to call a cab to get back.
Amazing location for tourists that want to touch the cultural and scenic aspect of Lebanon. Truly recommended for anyone visiting Lebanon. The atmosphere can lack religious depth, but nonetheless it is a place dedicated to the Virgin Mary!
This is a must see for visitors to Lebanon. Its religious location should not discourage those who are not catholic or even believers from visiting. Many visitors are not on a religious pilgrimage, but are visiting because of a fantastic location, great views, the sky train (which is a favorite but not the only way to get there), and people watching. Highly recommended.
