St. Peter's Church, Riga

4.1
St. Peter's Church represents one of the oldest and most valuable monuments of medieval architecture in the Baltic states. This Lutheran church, part of the Old Town's historic center, is listed as a World Heritage Site. Nazi Germans bombed the church during World War II, and the Soviets completed the destruction after the war. It wasn't rebuilt until 1983. The church hall houses exhibits and concerts, and the observation deck at the top of the tower offers a view of the entire city. • The Church of Peter is the land building of the city of Riga, for the reason that it is not, the tower of Gaogao is the highest building in this area, was also the highest wooden building in the island, climbing the tower needs to pay 9 yuan, although there is a little small, but after the tower is not a good view

  • The church was very beautiful from the inside. There's an optional entry fee of 5 euros per person, but for example in my case, a lovely elderly woman (probably over 80 years old) paid my entrance "fee" when she saw I had no cash on me. Lovely place, lovely people
  • The real importance of this landmark in Riga lies mostly in the intricate architectural history of the building, but that is not likely to be the reason why most people will visit. Most visitors will want to be crammed into the panoramic platform for a fairly exorbitant price, while they could do so for a fraction of the cost - and much more relaxedly - by choosing to go the tower of the Academy of Science.
