Dedicated to men and women killed during Laos' fight for independence, Patuxai represents a war monument decorated with various mythological creatures, gods, and animals. The structure's interior was constructed in a typical Laotian style, although the entire edifice resembles that of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. As you approach the monument, notice the ornate towers, which represent five principles of coexistence. Inside, you can explore seven floors housing administrative offices, a museum, a gift shop, and exhibits of pictures and statues of fallen heroes. For a small fee, take the elevator or stairs to the top-floor viewing area. Plan to visit Patuxai during your Vientiane vacation using our convenient Vientiane tour website .

Great views at night with lights and less crowded. We returned during the day to climb to the top very excellent city views more »
Great views over the city from the top levels, but this is a pretty shabby place with corroded concrete and tourist tat shops inside. There are some dangerous areas (drops down stairs) so best to keep your attention on where you are walking and not on the view unless you are standing still!
Nothing too special, but one of the things to do in Vientiane. Go to the top for 3.000 Kip and have a look around the city which also isn’t prettier form the top. But easy to get there and good for half an hour to an hour.
