Head uphill to see Zakimi Castle Ruins, part of a World Heritage Site protecting the remnants of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Built by the Chuzan Kingdom in the 15th century as a defense against the rebels of the north, the castle stood as the kingdom defeated its rivals and united the island under the Ryukyu banner. Today, only the stone walls and palisades remain, although their design and structure still capture the imagination. Visit the onsite museum to learn more about the citadel's history, then stroll the grounds and take in the extensive views of the surrounding area. Put Zakimi Castle Ruins and other Yomitan-son attractions into our Yomitan-son online journey planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Huge castle ruins with lots of space for children to run about. There are walls with stairs you can climb (not recommended for young children), a picturisque location. No entrance fee for this location. Nice walkway with trees as you walk to the castle. Probably spend about 35 to 45 mins at this location.
