The trail cuts through Yakushima island, which features huge swathes of protected nature reserves, including a 18,958 ha (46,844 ac) UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve. • It is a road along the coast which falls on the west side of Yakushima. When I drove around the island, I passed the Western Forest Road. Part of the forest road is part of the area designated as a world natural heritage, and wild monkeys and deer are among the forests. The road is quite narrow, but it is not a one-way street, so you need to be careful when driving. (When passing through the Western Forest Road, it seems that it is recommended to pass counterclockwise as a local rule.)

  • In the "Western Forest Road", which has a road without houses, you can see yakushimaka and yakusaru here and there. It is super recommended. When I went around Yakushima with my rental car, I drove around The Western Forest Road. There were twisted roads and almost one-lane roads, and it was hard to drive. However, the impression when I saw Yakushimaka and Yakusaru up close was the best. It's already a free safari park. It was a very good feeling. Yakushimaka was a little wary, but yakushimaru was able to be seen up close without the appearance of running away while grooming. It is super recommended. Different from the view of the world to see Yakushima from the inside on trekking such as "Jomon sugi", the outside? I think that you can feel the view of the world from Yakushima. By the way. This area is a World Heritage Site. In addition, there was a sign board which was prohibited at night. Be careful about the time to drive. It is recommended.
