    We stayed at the base of Mocchomudake, at the "Shinkinoyado" ryokan and each morning at breakfast the summit was shrouded in mist. When the mist cleared it revealed the glorious summit which towered.....  more »

    This is a 9km (900m hight) hike to the top of the mountain. Very nice. Took us around 5h roundtrip from the waterfall. There is plenty of fresh water along the way, so just bring a bottle. Includes...  more »

    Awesome view, with so many different flora along the way, an adventure climbing up and down the mountain. On the way up get to see 3000 years old Bandai Sugi.

    Seven years ago, on the last day of the Yakushima mountaineering trip, I parked my car in the parking lot of Chihiro Falls and climbed to the next morning. There was more rocky than I thought, and I had a good experience. However, the amount of physical strength to get on the plane after that was hard.
