Nestled in the hills northwest of the city sprawl, Ninna-ji Temple represents one of the more historically important sites in Japanese Buddhism, recognized as part of a World Heritage Site. Though the surviving buildings date from the early 1600s, they stand on the site of a temple complex founded in the 9th century. Pay a visit to the wooded grounds and wander among cherry trees and past ponds, taking time to marvel at the swooped rooftops, intricate paneling, and ornate carvings that decorate structures like the head priest's residence and main pagoda. Keep in mind that you'll need to pay separate admission fees for some parts of the temple. With our world travel planner, Kyoto attractions like Ninna-ji Temple can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.
Ninna-ji Temple Reviews
more »I visited here in November, but it was very crowded because it was the tourist season of autumn leaves. However, it is the atmosphere that Ninaji has, and even though it is crowded, it still settles down. Special visits to Kannon Pass are also available for a limited time, so please visit us.
平成の大修復を経て、観音堂壁画の一般公開が2019.11.24までの期間限定で実施中です。名宝展も国宝の阿弥陀如来を拝観できます。御殿はまだ修復途中ですが、拝観可能です。 more »After the great restoration of Heisei, the general public exhibition of Kannondo murals is being held for a limited time until November 24, 2019. You can also see The Famous Treasures Exhibition of Amida Nyorai, a national treasure. The palace is still in the process of restoration, but you can see it.
This a really cool temple with beautiful gardens that make you feel peaceful. There is set path to walk through. I really liked that some of the rooms had some small furnishings and not just the bare room. There was a room with an informational video so you can see what the grounds look like during other seasons. Reasonable price and totally worth your time to visit.
This place is very nice. Worth spending a few ours. Along with temples natural environment is very good.
