Sample a traditional dish made mostly of flour and cabbage at Tsukishima Monjya Street, where you can also peruse a variety of goods and groceries. As soon as you reach the street, you will clearly that the center of attention goes to monjayaki, a battered, pan-fried regional specialty. Take a seat at a table with your own personal iron plate on which to cook monjayaki; spice things up by adding squid, shrimp, cheese, curry, and other ingredients. Many shops have English-speaking staff, but note that some close on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you have a particular place in mind, check in advance whether they will be open or closed during your visit. • Pretty unique place in Tokyo. Monja is something unique too. If you like to try out your cooking skills in a controlled environment with all ingredients prepared for you it's the place to be! Many restaurants to choose from and sample if you're repeat customer. It's definitely bustling on the weekend with many happily drunk customers. This food and atmosphere especially good for the Winter time. If you are there for the first time try mentaiko cheese monja.
  • Had a good time with the local cuisine. There were some good bakeries as well as the bars/restaurants. Was concerned about the smoking inside but the vent fans did a great job pulling the smoke out
