Awaodori Kaikan offers visitors the opportunity to learn about and spectate on an attractive, traditional Japanese Bon dance. Every year during August, the country takes part in its largest dance festival, attracting more than 1.3 million revelers annually, resulting in the culmination of over 400 years of history. Visitors to this museum can absorb the history of the dance and watch vibrant performances all year round. Across the building's five floors, you'll also have the chance to shop for local produce, peruse a specialist library, and even take the ropeway from the fifth floor to the summit of Mt. Bizen. From here, visitors can take in panoramic views of the Tokushima plains. Ask Inspirock to suggest an itinerary and make planning a trip to Tokushima fast, fun, and easy.
Awaodori Kaikan Reviews
徳島は大きな建物が少ないので、ここはよく待ち合わせ場所になっています。昔はここから商店街が近くにあったのですが、現在はシャッター通りになっていてお店も少なくなっています。 more »There are few big buildings in Tokushima, so this is a good meeting place. In the old days, there was a shopping street near here, but now it is shuttered and there are fewer shops.
more »In addition to observing Awa Odori, there is also the Awa Odori Museum and souvenir shop with exhibits related to Awa Odori. It is also a ropeway station that goes to The Meiyama Observatory, and it is very convenient. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket machine on the first floor.
This is a place where you can see the Awa Odori dance any time of the year. The performance requires a separate ticket and it's highly recommended. The subtitles during the performance were excellent, and that allowed tourists like us to understand the entire performance.
First floor you can look around and buy many things made in Tokushima. Up on the top floor, you can take the ropeway up Mt. Bizan for a great view of Tokushima City, and even Wakayama across the ocean on a clear day. One of the intermediate floors also has an indoor theatre to watch a professional group dance the Awa Odori, the famous traditional dance of Tokushima, which has its festival held every August 12th to 15th.
