  • It is a spiritual experience, worthy of living, you can see the history of humanity from the most remote civilization. The architecture of mayan culture is impressive so the museum stands out inside and outside. It's emblaring you to hear the sound of the bells outside the museum, it's heavenly. There is a concave space, there is the figure of Kotama Okada all in gold. There is a kind of experience with the sound is unmissable and novel. Personally, I'm glad I took a picture with a dinosaur.

  • surprise... Surprising... Amazement... The grandiose work... at the risk of fascination... The Hikaru Museum opened its doors in 1999... and what doors... where... !!! 25,000 sculpted limestone blocks imported from France create a phaaronic sculptural architecture, plunging us into a mythical world. All the arts are presented but I focused only on Japanese treasures, contemporary artists and an El Greco. Calligraphy surpasses themselves towards a new dynamic of gestures... apertural. Space space is present. It is certainly one of the most daring museums I know of as the Misu Museum on the outskirts of Kyoto. Light is our absolute guide... The architect is not named... just as in the Middle Ages, it is the work that dominates... This lacks restraint, of course... ostentatiousness crushes us... but... nevertheless, the work speaks... and the grandiose fades... only the work, then, exists the place... Don't miss... 20 minutes from Takayama... Bus Terminal, 1...

  • This museum is a true gem. Situated 3 km from the station it is well worth the ride. For many reasons: The museum building itself is an amazing architectural experience. The scenery around the museum with the snow clad mountains as a backdrop. But first and foremost the diverse collection of art inside. There's even a children friendly section with dinosaurs and activities. Fantastic genuine and rewarding experience if you have 2-3 hours to spare from the tourist shops in Takayama centre. There's also a restaurant if you want to eat on premise.
  • A very beautiful museum in a building like a Mexican Maya temple. The permanent exhibition is great: magnificent calligraphy and Japanse paintings from different periods.
