Senjojiki, Shirahama-cho

Geologic Formation · Lookout
Witness the power of the natural world at Senjojiki, a stretch of coastline made up of particularly impressive geological formations. The tiered rock formations display the work of the Pacific Ocean over the years, with the strong waves eroding the rocks into their current shape, said to look like a thousand tatami mats, an image after which the site has been named. Walk out onto the plateau to gain a closer look at the waves and the strikingly formed rocks, but take care as the wind can pick up throughout the day.
