#4 of 244 in Things to do in Sendai
Landmark · Tourist Spot
A celebrated Sendai promenade lined with zelkova trees, Jozenji-dori Avenue provides many events and jazz festivals along its 700 m (2,296 ft) long stretch. Perfect for shopping and taking a stroll, the street serves as a symbol of the "City of Trees." Sit on the benches in a tunnel of trees and enjoy sculptures by famous artists. Pop into shops and restaurants along the way, then take a stroll through the small park of ginkgo trees at the end of the avenue. With any luck, you'll see musicians performing from small stages in the area. The avenue lies in Sendai downtown area, perpendicular to Kokubuncho Avenue, with 1,000 bars in 500 m (1,640 ft).
