Supposedly established in 473 BCE, during the reign of Emperor Kōshō, this ancient site has since been repaired and reconstructed various times, due to lightning strikes and other disasters. Once you enter through the tall, vermillion gate, you'll observe a handful of secondary shrines before coming across a serene pond. After crossing the pond's arcing bridge, you find the imposing Romon Gate and the entrance to the main shrine grounds. Bring your camera, as the site offers many photo opportunities.
