Sugi no Osugi (杉の大スギ) also known as "Osugi-san" by locals is the world's tallest Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) and is said to be over 3000 years old. It is located in Ōtoyo, Kōchi, Japan within the grounds of Yasaka Jinja.

  • It is a must visit place in Kochi prefecture. Going there by car is a little bit tricky, the phone number obtained from internet could not be recognized by the GPS system, you can try 0887-72-1417...  more »
  • It is a recommandation if you like japanese nature. The tree is the oldest in japan, around 3.000 years ago. The landscape is also beautiful.  more »
  • Magical place. If it seems hard to get to, you have been mislead by your GPS. I visited the Jomon-Sugi in Yakushima which was also incredible, but this one (these two?) are equally impressive.
  • this is the third time we come to visit old trees in japan, this twin tree is grand and the area around is nice and quiet, worth to come and see once.
