Waterfall · Nature / Park
A rapid stream gushing down and hitting the river bottom with huge force will mesmerize you and make you feel like you'll get sucked into the mouth of Fukiwarenotaki Falls. About 7 m (21 ft) high and 30 m (90 ft) wide, the waterfall got its name after a giant split rock at its mouth, which creates a complicated rock pattern resembling Niagara Falls. The hiking route to the waterfall takes an hour to complete and you can visit a number of hot springs along the way. Visited by a million people each year, the waterfall sits a 40-minute bus ride from Numata through scenic villages and nature, some three hours from Tokyo by public transport.
