Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park
Visit Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park to see a stupendous architectural feat, which was the residence of three Japanese emperors. The restored palace, whose history dates as far back as the early 17th century, consists of 106 rooms. As it housed three emperors, its architectural influences date back to three different periods, being Taisho, Meiji, and Edo. Here you can take a peaceful stroll around the surrounding garden, which features a 400-year-old tree. Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park Reviews

more »
The former imperial residence is open to the public as a memorial park. It was mistaken that it was the ruins of the residence of the Tamozawa family which had the connection to Nikko even if it was unknown. The vast site of more than 11 thousand tsubo seems to have been set up as a resting ground for the sickly Emperor Taisho. There is a solemn atmosphere even in the frugal, and it is worth seeing.View original -
À 10 minutes a pieds des temples une villa impériale très simple. Attention on a vite froid au pieds car il faut se déchausser. Prévoir de grosses chaussettes et gardez votre veste. Compter 30 minutes... more »
A 10-minute walk from the temples is a very simple imperial villa. Be careful we quickly cold feet because you have to take off your shoes. Bring on big socks and keep your jacket on. It takes 30 minutes to go around. It's really a must-see. The style is dark, the house almost empty of. Beautiful garden Next week I think the autumn colors will be there.View original

Not particularly amazing for the 510 yen entry fee. Just a nice house and garden, which you can give a miss if you're tight on time and have seen other Japanese gardens. Thought the history of the place might've been interesting, but guess not. Also saw a number of stinkbugs on the carpets throughout the villa, so look where you step! It was fall when I visited.

A lovely palace. I have spent nearly 2 hours inside this place and still wanted more time. The garden outside was quiet and a joy to walk. Inside a great example of Japanese x European architecture.
