Irohazaka Route, Nikko

#17 of 207 in Things to do in Nikko
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Travel the spectacular and winding ribbon of Irohazaka Route, which carves its snaking path up and down the mountainous landscape. With a total of 48 hairpins, it's not a drive for the faint of heart--but if you enjoy a bit of a challenge, you'll witness spectacular views across the valley, with observational points along the way. Scenic any time of year, the hills prove particularly memorable from October to early November, as the surrounding trees take on rusty tones.
