Valley of Gangala, Nanjo

#1 of 15 in Parks in Nanjo
Must see · Valley · Nature / Park
Walk down a mystical route at Valley of Gangala, a valley formed after the collapse of a limestone cave. The forested valley has inspired a number of myths and folk tales, and legend has it that spirits dwell in this secluded area. Tall trees and bamboo grow out from the foot of the valley to join the forest above, with the dramatic rock formations of the valley walls blending with the foliage to create impressive scenery. A limestone cave offers another layer of mystery and magic (and a cafe) to your adventure. • The caves are amazing to see without a doubt. If you get the chance to go here or to Okinawa World across the street, you’ll be amazed by the enormity of the caves. However, the cafe here only offered drinks and ice cream. We felt it would’ve been nicer to sit inside the cave and munch on something instead of only drinking our beverages and then leaving. We drove a ways just to be able to do so and only drinking a quick beverage felt lack luster.
  • First off the offering for an English tour guide was worth every bit of the additional admission. The mosquito lotion provided staved off any mosquitos. The tea provided for the trek was nice, cool and refreshing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We lucked out and it was just me and my friend. I won’t give any secrets away. You will enjoy this adventure.
