  • It is nice to take a walk from Yumoto Onsen to Taineiji temple. Unfortunately the season of cherry blossoms was almost gone. But still I enjoyed a serene atmosphere of this temple. In the premises...  more »

  • I visited here for the first time six years ago. I was surprised at the size of the flat place which I thought was a parking lot and the vastness of the precincts that followed. Originally, it was a temple with a connection with Mr. Ouchi, and I think that it was a temple reminiscent of a fort when considering the topography where the Daning River flows on the back of the mountain and the front. I thought that there was a magnificent mountain gate in the explanation board, and there might have been several robust pagodas. In 1551, The Lord Yoshitaka Ouchi was driven from Yamaguchi due to the rebellion of "Totakabo" and fell to this temple, but he was surrounded by the anti-vassal "Tou" army and "Yoshitaka" was self-bladed. At this time, the temple seems to have burned down, too. However, it seems to have been rebuilt by Mr. Mori, but the mountain gate and the pagoda were destroyed by the fire and the abandoned Buddha Buddha Buddha of the Meiji era. It is also the site of the end of the substantial "Ouchi clan", and boasts a stately precinct, "Daning Gokokuzenji" is a must-see for history lovers!
