  • Breathtaking scenery and landscape , overlooking Mt Yari 槍ヶ岳. It is just so stunning and I spent some more times to have a rest at this point for photo taking . I was taking the 表銀座縦走 route and was starting from 中房溫泉,it took around 5-6 hrs hike from 燕岳登山口. This route to Mount Tsubakuro is a rather easy to hike one with more stairs at the beginning . Quite a many hikers will choose to stay overnight at 燕山莊 while I and my friends continued our trailwalk towards 大天荘 .
  • Beautiful, highly recommended mountain that can be day-climbed by fit hikers. Access to the trailhead is via a winding road, which is very narrow for about 9km and must be hairy if you drive it with weekend-level oncoming traffic. There are huts and benches at multiple points on the climb, but only one free water source which is near the bottom. The climb is mostly steep through woodland with no views, and finally opens into alpine vegetation around 2500m. The final landscape reveal at the top is stunning, great views over the other mountains and the distinctively rounded rock formations on Tsubakuro itself. In terms of difficulty among famous day climbs in the Japan Alps, it's much harder than Karamatsudake, harder than Jiigatake but slightly easier than the snow gorge route up Shiroumadake. This area also gets better weather than the Hakuba region. I saw that Enzan-so, the pretty ridgetop hut does curry rice for 900 or 1100 with a cutlet, cheap enough to not bother carrying lunch up yourself. For cyclists, the road to the trailhead is a really good Cat 1 climb on a road bike. Very steep in parts.
