I was there in the morning and it was already attracting tourists. There are three temple/shrines next to each other, one closed to the public. The is so much more going on also, caves, cemeteries... more »
A very pleasant temple. Serene building and ornate carvings and paintings. An easy walk from Matsushima station. Some other interesting sights nearby.
The building is well maintained with a lot of details to see. I would recommend people to stroll slowly to absorb the atmosphere. Entrance fee is 700 yen. No photo is allowed inside the main building.
