  • I thought it would not be filling - I was totally wrong. The tofu was fantastic - firm to the touch but soft on the inside. It was sufficiently firm to allow a skillful manouvre of the chopsticks to pick them up, but soft such that any more force than the delicate balance will swiftly send the tofu into humble ruins. The meal was ¥3800 and it comes in a standard set so you don't have to worry about not knowing japenese. Sitting on a tatami mat, eating a hot pot of tofu with a selection of Japanese sides and tempura, this has got to be the best local experience around here!
  • Walkable from Arashiyama Park, this restaurant offers a nice break from all the crowds and a beautiful view of its private garden. There is only one set available, so the food was served quickly. Note it is not completely vegetarian as little fish are served as a side dish. We liked that even though it’s a lighter meal, it’s very filling. My favorite was the tofu pudding dessert.
