Explore the Japanese countryside and experience rural life as you travel down Sugar Road. Located on the eastern side of the island, the road got its name for sugar plantations, which can be found either side of the attraction and are considered one of the most important parts of the island's economy. This piece of tarmac remains one of the island's main attractions and often features in popular Japanese TV drama Churusan, from which it gained its popularity.   • The place is very quiet. No sugar cane along the side of the road anymore. It's just splattering of cattle farms now. The tour guide spoke in Japanese throughout so we have no idea what is going on...  more »
