  • It is a mountain gate (Niomon) just across the Ryuhua Bridge. I thought that it was a big temple and it was a humpback mountain gate. This gate is rebuilt by Minamoto 3rd place Yorimasa, and the statue of Nio is said to have been created by Unkei and LiuQing. Both Unkei and Yunqing are famous Buddhist priests of the Kamakura period. You can see the cultural property close to you. It is one of the highlights of Suma-ji Temple.

  • As the name suggests, there is a statue of Nio on both sides of the gate. The gate and the statue of Nio are not so big, but when I passed through the gate and went to the approach, I felt a firm feeling.

  • It is an absolutely gorgeous shrine with a lot of history behind it. It was the site of One of the battles during the genpei war. The temple is beautiful and serene and since there are little or not tourists you can visit it in peace.
  • This is a group of Buddhist temples located far away from town centre of Kobe, that’s why there is few visitors and make it a very quiet and peaceful place, just by strolling along can gain peace in mind.
