The gallery was first opened in 1959. When the collection ougrew its original building, a new facility was constructed. The current structure was completed in 1983.

  • During my visit I had the feeling that many works were absent (which explains my average opinion). The museum presents a wide variety of achievements in the field of ceramics, woodworking (an impressive room of wooden dishes), kimonos (much less than on the museum book) and a series of paintings (difficult to understand the logic). Some works do not even give the name of the artist and the year of creation in English , which makes the visit sometimes uneducational. Beautiful statues. Note that the museum offers beautiful views of the forest in large windows. It is therefore part of the Zen course. if you come from the Suzuki Museum by the way into the forest (walk I loved). Forbidden photos (curious choice)

  • It is a prefectural museum in Ishikawa where arts and crafts are active, and it is not so big, but there are few tourists, so it is quiet and can be admired slowly. The exhibits include the Maeda family's antiquities, Japanese paintings, oil paintings, sculptures, crafts, and many works of human national treasures and masterpieces of Kokutani. I was impressed by the color edake furnace and the colored female incense furnace of Hitoshi Nonomura, and the color eduma-flower figure hira-mizuno-no-hiwas was also wonderful. Some of the patterns of Furukutani are still common, and you can see that they have been made for a long time.
