Nikobuchi, Ino-cho

One of the most beautiful places on earth. Legend has it that it’s a dwelling of a serpentine water god. Felt sacred and full of awe. Had two days of rain prior visiting, the fall seems to gush a bit stronger. Careful on your way down, can get a tad challenging at some points.

Beautiful waterfall into an incredible blue pool. Be careful although that one has to go down by an hazardous path only slightly secured by a rope. Children can go down only with much care. The first steep slope has steps but the second has none and is slippery. It is not possible to go simultaneously up and down this second part. On crowded days (I went there during Ôbon holiday) the way down is basically an hour long traffic jam, as fun as a hundred people queue under a burning sun. Difficult to park a car near the entrance of the way down.
