Step back in time and explore the early 17th-century atmosphere at Imabari Castle, one of the three well-known "castles on the sea." Though destroyed by order of the Meiji rulers, the edifice underwent reconstruction in 1980. Observe the citadel's ingenious seawater moat, which can control the water level through use of the tides and a series of sluice gates. As you enter, note the unusual main gate, featuring iron plating and turrets. Climb to the top of the castle for views of the surrounding complex, moat, and cityscape and port beyond. • There are couple of museums inside. Good place for photography and to know about culture. You can go to the top of the castle which provides observatory with explanation about the surrounding. There is a small souvenir shop at the ground floor. Imabari castle is at walkable distance for both Bus stand and Railway station.
