Statue of Oda Nobunaga, Gifu

#7 of 80 in Things to do in Gifu
Monument · Tourist Spot
Outside JR Gifu station, Statue of Oda Nobunaga, the effigy of the revered 16-century samurai warlord, keeps watch over the junction, polished to perfection and shining in the sunlight. The man you'll see depicted here was one of the first great unifiers of Japan, conquering over a third of the country on his quest. He eventually died by taking his own life as his palace was attacked in a coup d'etat, but his legacy lives on strongly here. If you visit during October, you'll have the opportunity to see an annual parade of samurai warriors in his honor. Statue of Oda Nobunaga is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , world travel planner Edition.
