Maizuru Park, Fukuoka

4.1
#5 of 52 in Parks in Fukuoka
Take a walk through Maizuru Park to appreciate pristine natural scenery and see a castle from the Edo period. During the cherry blossom season, the park wears a light pink shade, which creates an impression of walking among the clouds. Walk around to see the castle's rocky walls, towers, and the moat. For a slightly different experience, come by after dark, when the park lights up with artificial illumination and provides a romantic setting for a late walk. • During the cherry blossoms, especially in the evening, every respectful traveler just has to visit! The park is arranged around the remains of the former castle-fortress Maizuru. Now from it, the castle, preserved only the ruined walls and a few towers, and the park attracts visitors with hiking trails, a huge number of cherry trees and several well-arranged viewing platforms on the site of the castle. The best time to visit the park is certainly from the end of March to early April, when the park becomes the most inhabited and visited place of the city to celebrate the celebration of cherry blossoms. ...

  • Cherry blossoms in full bloom!!! I went to see the cherry blossoms with all my friends before my part-time job, and I was very impressed to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom for the first time. There were stalls around me during the cherry blossom viewing season, so a lot of people came to see it.

  • It must be really nice in a nice warm spring. But when i was there, it's cold, gray, snowing with lightning(!!!!), mixed with rains and hails!! I stared at the ducks and water birds for a few minutes with butt frozen off and wondering what I was doing there in a cold snowy day!!! Not one of my favorite day-trip moments!
  • A pleasant stroll around the Fukuoka Castle Ruins. The few remaining turrets can only be viewed from the outside. If you climb some steps to the base of the main tower, you will be able to see the silhouettes of Fukuoka Tower and Yafuoku! Dome in the distance.
