Ichijodani Asakurashi Ruin, Fukui

4.0
Founded in 1471 by the Asakura clan, Ichijodani Asakurashi Ruin recreates the world of 16th century central Japan. With a dozen restored houses that showcase everything from furniture to ethnic clothing, the site attracts history buffs and nature lovers. The entrance gate with the bridge over a moat gives visitors a feeling of ancient Japan. You can learn about the economy of a typical Japanese castle, but use a guide, as there are no signs in English. Japanese garden aficionados won't want to miss the well-kept "Lone Japanese Maple" garden on top of the hill. • It seems to be a difficult place to go without a rental car, but in fact there is a limited express bus from Fukui Station. Although the number is reduced, it runs on weekdays, and it is perfect for sightseeing in a set with Eiheiji Temple.

  • After visiting Eiheiji Temple, we went to the shrine by rental car. in the parking lot without much prior knowledge. Villages in the Warring States period? Town? It seems to be a reproduction park, and it does not actually spring up so much even if it sees here. But what about the wonderfulness of this place! I came to like it all the more to know that there was a former house here!
