Ichijodani Asakurashi Ruin, Fukui

4.0
Historic Site · Hidden Gem · Landmark
Founded in 1471 by the Asakura clan, Ichijodani Asakurashi Ruin recreates the world of 16th century central Japan. With a dozen restored houses that showcase everything from furniture to ethnic clothing, the site attracts history buffs and nature lovers. The entrance gate with the bridge over a moat gives visitors a feeling of ancient Japan. You can learn about the economy of a typical Japanese castle, but use a guide, as there are no signs in English. Japanese garden aficionados won't want to miss the well-kept "Lone Japanese Maple" garden on top of the hill. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Ichijodani Asakurashi Ruin by using our Fukui attractions planner.
