Kobe Kitano Museum (Ijinkan-gai), Chuo

3.6
Explore Kobe Kitano Museum (Ijinkan-gai), a city district settled by foreign merchants and diplomats after the Port of Kobe was opened for international trade in the 19th century. Elegant and luxuriously decorated mansions and embassies still populate this street and serve as museums. Each charges a separate admission free, but if you're not interested in seeing each individual museum, a stroll through the pleasant street gives a good sense of the architecture. You’ll also find a couple of gift shops and eateries in the area Make your Kobe itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.

  • It's on a pretty steep hill. It is safe to go with comfortable shoes. Each facility may cost an entrance fee, and if you go around it all, it will be expensive, so you should check the facilities you want to go to in advance.

  • As you pass through japan's main shopping street, you will see a quiet neighborhood and a european-style house as you look deep inside the neighborhood. At the moment, you may be confused as to whether this is Europe or Japan, but the sign clearly indicates a Japanese touch.
