Ikuta Shrine, Chuo

3.9
Dedicated to the Shinto goddess Wakahirume, Ikuta Shrine stands as one of the oldest structures of its kind in the country. Thought to have its origins in the 3rd century, the shrine has survived the destruction of Japan's medieval-era civil wars and World War II. The classic architecture of swooped roofs, wooden pillars, and stone statues is accented by a red-and-gold color scheme. Enjoy some time outdoors by wandering the grounds and discovering the duck pond and pathways around the shrine. • It may be because I visited during the holidays, but it was full of tourists from Japan and abroad, and it was not a feeling that I could visit slowly. However, I think that it was good to visit the shrine itself very beautifully. If you want to enjoy the solemn atmosphere, it may be a good idea to visit early in the morning.

  • After passing through the large torii gate, behind the shrine I visited, there is a forest called Ikuta no Mori, and there are quite a few huge trees there. It's been around here, hasn't it? I think it's been at least 500 years. I'm sure you've experienced some earthquakes with people and towns. I feel like I could feel such a breath by touching the base of the tree and the trunk.

  • This is my first visit to this shrine. It is just beside the Kobe sannomiya station. It is centered between the busiest street. Once you entered inside the premises it gives a calmness, pleasant and I was so admired their worship pattern. They have blocked the way to go near to the idol. But, still we could see it. It's different experience.
  • It's one of the most quite places in Kobe. If you wanna meditate yourself, you should stop by the shrine. In search of peace of mind, you'd literally start liking the place. Feel the vibe
