Rikugien Garden, Bunkyo

4.3
#7 of 424 in Parks in Tokyo
Stroll through Rikugien Garden, a peaceful oasis inspired by poetry in the heart of Tokyo. Signage in English explains the connection between the gardens and excerpts of poetry, as you enjoy the scenery of cherry blossoms and the park's small pond. The park really shines during the autumn months, as lights illuminate the red and orange hues of the foliage after dark. You can find amenities throughout the garden, including snack stalls and restrooms. To visit Rikugien Garden on your trip to Tokyo, use our Tokyo trip tool .

  • It is a short walk from Komagome Station on the JR Yamanote Line and The Tokyo Metro Namboku Line. It is a round-the-art Tsukiyama Izumi Garden where you can take a leisurely stroll while looking out over a small, high mountain and a large pond. "Rokuyoshien", a round-the-art tsukiyama izumi garden, was built over the years of the Edo period. It is a Japanese garden with a literary charm such as a small high mountain and a large pond. It's a good morning walk. Last admission: 16:30 Admission 300 yen for adults.

  • It's really a nice park, quite spacious with beautiful scenery. There is also a unique tea house and since it's surrounded by nature it becomes the perfect place to take a stroll or just spend time reading your favorite book. The only thing is that you have to pay for the entrance fee.
  • Despite visiting in winter, it was easily one of the most beautiful of the gardens I visited in Tokyo. A prime example of a walking garden, the route is easy to follow and get the most of the experience without having to backtrack. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo.
