  • The temple is also the intername of the expressway. It was a temple famous for its autumn leaves, and it was very beautiful when I went to the season of autumn leaves.

  • A temple with the tradition of the birthplace of Mr. Ashikaga. On the side of the gate-front approach, there is a tomb where The Maternal, Mother, and wife are buried. The main hall is a thatched roof which became unusual in recent years, and it becomes a picture only by it. It is a pity that the main temple of the heavy sentence does not look good because it is dark in the main hall, and it is not likely to be able to see it at all at the time of the visit. Because the distance of the train is long in the location of the middle of the station and the station, the car is recommended by all means if going. If you use public transportation, you should check the timetable and use the train and aya bus on the occasion. There is a bus stop in front of the gate, so if the time is right, there is no way to use it.

  • Ankokuji Temple is located in the north part of Ayabe City. The temple was established in mid 14th century by the very first Shogun of Muromachi Period ( Ashikaga Takauji ). The temple is the birth place of Ashikaga Takauji. In its precincts there is a well used for giving delivery to Takauji and graves and monuments of his mother are also enshrined in this place. The place is filled with Japanese maples and visited by many tourists during the season when leaves turn color in autumn ( annual Momiji festival is held in mid-november ).There is a statue of Shaka sanzon as well as various type of historical assets preserved in its main hall. This temple is designated as a very important cultural asset in Ayabe city. The birth place ( the well where the delivery was practiced ) is outside the temple located just a minute walk away down the road. According to the history this area was once called Uesugino-sho in which Kiyoko who is the mother of Takauji came back to her hometown in Tamba destrict for giving birth to Takauji. Later on she built a villa in front of Ankokuji Temple. To get access to this area take JR Line to Ayabe city and exchange the bus to Kurotani Line to Ankokuji Bus stop. The closest station is Umesako by JR Line. ( Trans-word+ : TGM Kyoto Guide )
