Izanagi Shrine (Izanagi Jingu, 伊弉諾神宮) is a Shinto shrine located in Awaji, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to the kami Izanagi and Izanami. It was formerly an Imperial shrine of the first rank (官幣大社, Kanpei-taisha) under the Modern system of ranked Shinto Shrines. It was the ichinomiya of Awaji province.

  • We drove from Somoto where we stayed. Upon arrival, two carpark were available. Maybe it was Sunday, some ceremonial event tajen place. We strolled along the side entrance since we parked our car...  more »
  • This was special for us because one of our friends is from Awaji and all three of her children had received blessings here. It wasn't too crowded and easy to access. Another amazing shrine.  more »

  • For people interested in Japanese mythology, this is a must-see. It's a small shrine, doesn't take long to see, and there's a good atmosphere. It's a 30m drive from the highway, but it's a pleasant drive. Of you want to start your stamp collection there, their booklet is beautiful.
